A quiet timid creature, the Beaver has been Canada's national animal from the beginning. With a population numbering in the millions at the beginning of Canadian exploration and being prized for its fur pelt, the Beaver was hunted mercilessly until the mid-19th century when it almost became extinct. The Beaver lured explorers across the continent and is largely responsible for defining Canada as we know it today. Logically, it was decided in 1975 that the beaver would become the official emblem of Canada. The beaver is symbolic of independence, creativity, and determination–also characters of the Canadian people. Canadian people are seen throughout the world as quiet, timid, and accommodating–much like the Beaver.

In 2006 that all came to an end.

Tired of being hunted and much maligned the beaver began an underground movement to reclaim its territory. The Beaver’s teeth came out, his eyes squinted ferociously, and more than trees began to fall. People from around the world began to sit up and take notice of the newly coined 'Raging Beaver'–the movement spear headed by Jeff Pain at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy.

The RAGING BEAVER was born and the attitude of Canadian's began to change. Unyielding, ferocious, and aggressive, the new unofficial attitude in Canada is finally bringing our personality as a nation in line with our pride as Canadians. Watch out world–we've had enough. Bring it on!
